Barry Barnes director of sales for Terex Cranes Europe, is retiring today after more than 30 years with the company.

Barnes joined Terex with its acquisition of Demag mobile cranes in 2002, and has been the UK face of Demag/Terex since the early 1970s. He also spent some time selling the company’s big cranes to major accounts in North America. In 2010 he announced his intention to retire and appointed Lee Maynard to take over his UK role. At that time the exact date of his departure was left open, but has now been confirmed.
Terex Cranes president Kevin Bradley said: “Barry is well respected throughout the cranes industry, due to his in-depth knowledge of the company’s history and products, combined with his interpersonal skills and loyal commitment to customers. Today I want to extend my gratitude to Barry. I am pleased that he will continue to work with us to support our customers.”

Barnes added: “I have been in the crane industry for nearly 50 years, and it is a very interesting feeling and emotion, as I remember my very first day at work with the Company and many landmarks till this point. I have been fortunate to represent superior products and work for some great people and colleagues. I still have a lot of ideas to improve the business and look forward to continue to support my colleagues and customers whenever I can be of help.”
