UK based Speedy Hire has supplied an on-site rental facility to Al Futtaim Carillion, for its Cairo Festival City project in Egypt.

Speedy has supplied a full range of equipment with an initial value of £2.5 million, including telehandlers and backhoe loaders.

A nine strong team from Speedy is on-site in Cairo to administer the equipment and services, including the provision of training and health & Safety advice. The team is expected to grow to 40 as the project develops.

Mike McGrath, managing director, international asset services at Speedy said: "We support our customers in delivering major overseas projects and facilities management contracts by providing a managed site support service, which combines our core expertise in equipment hire with asset management, infrastructure and logistics services."

The $3.2 billion Festival City development, includes retail outlets, office space, housing, restaurants, entertainment and a school.
In an interview for the September issue of Cranes & Access, managing director Ian Gordon said that the company was open to alternative proposals and would consider any ideas put forward during the consultation process. But was not hopeful that a workable alternative would be found.
