In connection with the series launch of the new control and console platform that until now was known as the SMCS (for Scalable Mobile Control System), this automation platform from Hirschmann Mobile Machine Control Solutions (MCS) is being given a new name: iSCALE Control System.
From now on, Hirschmann MCS will be naming its entire SMCS product portfolio along similar lines. Each product group – such as controllers, consoles, and SLI products – will be distinguished by a different first letter, similarly to the system used to designate sensors (fSENS, gSENS, pSENS):
The “c” in cSCALE stands for “controls”. As of immediately, cSCALE refers to all controllers (IP20 and IP66 standalone controllers) and consoles with an integrated controller.
All other consoles are now called vSCALE. The “v” is short for “visualization”.
The name qSCALE is used for SLI products and SLI/LMI products in controllers and consoles. The “q” stands for “qualification, qualified SLI/LMI solution”.
The name iSCALE Control System clearly distinguishes this forward-looking automation platform from the existing products iFLEX, iSCOUT and iVISOR.
This new control platform fundamentally distinguishes from the existing product portfolio of Hirschmann MCS, which is specifically designed for LMI applications. The iSCALE Control System was developed for the broad category of mobile machine applications. Consequently, Hirschmann MCS now also offers control solutions for mobile machines other than crane applications (LMI). The new system’s modularity makes it easy to tailor this innovative control solution to the specific requirements of different applications. It thus lends itself to meeting the current and future needs of every mobile application – across all industries.
With the iSCALE Control System, the world market leader in the field of safe load indication for telescoping and lattice boom cranes is once again demonstrating its innovativeness and offering a convincing answer to coming challenges. The entire control and sensor platform was developed to comply with performance level d of EN ISO 13849-1 and SIL-2 of IEC 61508.
