With products rich in innovative ideas Hirschmann Automation and Control (HAC) presented itself to the public at the greatest industrial trade fair in the USA, CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008, and cemented the company’s reputation as the leading manufacturer of high quality components for the construction machinery industry. The highlight was the beginning to the introduction to the market of the new Scalable Mobile Control System. At the same time, running parallel to the show, was the dealers’ conference where the points were set for the future in the US market.
Welcome to the market of limitless possibilities! The CONEXPO-CON/AGG show once more set new standards. 2,182 exhibitors took part in the event and attracted almost 150,000 visitors from more than 130 countries with new products and innovative solutions for the construction machinery sector. At the stand of Hirschmann’s Business Unit Electronic Control Systems there was a high level of interest and activity during the show. Along with the current OEM and retrofit product lines – consisting of sensors and graphic control consoles – the experts were also introduced to the upgrade options now available for existing product solutions.
The centre of attraction was the show highlight from Hirschmann Automation and Control: the new Scalable Mobile Control System. OEM customers and the international technical press showed themselves to be impressed in equal measure by this extremely versatile product innovation, for which everyone agreed there will be great opportunities on the market. All the more since once more the view was confirmed at CONEXPO by those who know the industry that there is an increased demand for components for construction machines which can be used in the maintenance and improvement of the infrastructure.
It is from this sector that the strongest impulses for the construction business in the USA are expected, now and in the immediate future. After all, in the face of the current real estate crisis in the USA, there can be no great expectation of significant growth in the private house construction sector in the near future. Despite this difficult market environment, at Hirschmann Automation and Control we are optimistic concerning business in the USA. With innovative products, superior technology and the consistent development of customer-specific solutions we can meet the current challenges successfully and exploit the market conditions.
Hirschmann Automation and Control was a topic of conversation during the show, and not just because of the attractive products on offer. The public was also offered some spectacular action. Our interactive crane simulator showed itself to be a real show stopper. Visitors to the show had the chance to take their seat in a simulated crane cabin and test their capabilities as operators of a 200 ton crane. The chance to experience the capacity of Hirschmann components at close quarters and in a practical way was an absolutely fascinating experience for all those who took part. In its capacity as sponsor and active participant in the 5k race – organised by AEM specialist publishers – Hirschmann attracted the undivided interest of the public. The Belden-Hirschmann team, consisting of Wolfgang Schenk from Hirschmann Automation and Control, Germany, Chris Long from Lumberg-Belden and Eric Schook from Hirschmann Automation and Control, USA showed that with the interplay of team spirit and technology you can achieve truly astonishing results.
Hirschmann Automation and Control, USA, also issued their invitations to the dealers’ conference, which ran parallel to the show. 25 sales partners used this opportunity to come together at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas and learn more about future developments at Hirschmann Automation and Control. Amongst other matters on the agenda there was the concept-presentation of the successor for the product line EI65 which has been so successful in the USA. But above all there was also the announcement and presentation of the planned introduction to the market of the new control system, the ‘Scalable Mobile Control System’. The dealers who were present could get a picture at first hand of the advantages offered by this new family of products, learn more about future company strategy, as well as learning more about competing companies. The planned combining of research, development and innovation resources met with particular interest. Participants also had the chance to exchange ideas and could take home with them a wide range of valuable stimuli.
