Fit for Competition: Die neue fSENS KMD Standard-Produktreihe

Greater performance, faster availability, and flexible configuration – these were the requirements that Hirschmann MCS wanted its new family of standardized tension load cells to meet within the scope of the product initiative “Fit for Competition”. The next step was to follow the pSENS pressure sensor family with the fSENS KMD standard product line. In the spring of 2011, Hirschmann MCS therefore set out to make all of these products even better by incorporating the latest technologies and developing cost-optimized versions that conform to the strictest quality standards. Just how well the company has succeeded in optimizing its tension load cells is apparent in the total of their features:

Now six basic standardized fSENS KMD types are available, covering a very wide tonnage range from three to 150 tonnes. Standardization has improved the production processes and generated economies of scale that have resulted in consistently better series quality, faster delivery, and more attractive prices.

Configurable Sensors – a Symbiosis of Standardization and Flexibility

Another declared goal of the product initiative was to combine the benefits of series production with those of customer-specific production. And the results are impressive:

We have convincingly closed the gap with our new fSENS KMD products, which can be configured by specifying ordering codes. Based on standard basic types, the new tension load cells can be tailored to meet different customer wishes by adding optional features:

Within each tonnage class, every product’s measurement range can be flexibly defined as required. For example, the 50-tonne KMD can be calibrated to 30, 35, or 60 tonnes. The interface is also freely selectable. The option list will begin with three different interfaces (CANopen, 4 – 20 mA, and 2.5 – 7.5 V). A radio interface and a CANopen safety interface will follow. Both spherical bearings and permanently inserted reducing sleeves are available for adjusting the pin diameter. In addition, the CANopen versions of the sensors are supplied with a freely selectable node address that is also indicated in the ordering code. For mechanically adapting the electrical connection, there are also various connector types.

The fSENS KMD products with fixed tonnage and configurations of the last price list from Hirschmann MCS are now also included as a subset of the new ordering codes. The same prices are still valid.
