Force sensors for XXL special machinery:
Hirschmann shows its strength – with the new fSENS KMD 1350/0001

In the currently largest lattice boom crane worldwide a product of Hirschmann Mobile Machine Control Solutions (MCS) ensures safety and stability: with a nominal load of 1,350 tons the fSENS KMD 1350/0001 is the largest force transducer that has ever been supplied by Hirschmann. The force transducer has even more superlatives to offer: weight: 780 kilograms, length: 2.14 meters and two-fold redundant outlets:
2 x (2 x 4... 20mA).
The force transducer was developed for the Dutch customer Mammoet, the market leader for lifting and transporting heavy loads. For a total of three “Platform Twinring Dual Stacks (PTC)” Mammoet ordered – in addition to the 13 force transducers - 50 controls from the SMCS (Scalable Mobile Control System) family and 65 compression force transducers fSENS DKA for 300 tons.

The fSENS KMD 1350/0001 demonstrates how very flexibly and individually Hirschmann is able to respond to customer requirements and how even major challenges, including specific mechanical requirements, can be conclusively overcome.
With this force transducer the force sensor portfolio now spans a nominal load range (and dead weight) of more than three orders of magnitude. The smallest force transducer at the other end of the size range has been designed for a nominal load from 0.5 to 1 ton, which has already been calibrated for 0.5 tons. Measurements of the Hirschmann force transducers thus range between less than 10 centimeters to over 2 meters, while the weight even spans below 750 grams to over 750 kilograms.

In addition to these extreme solutions, Hirschmann also offers cost-effective standard products for various load intervals between 3 and 150 tons. More details will follow in one of the coming issues of Control unlimited. In addition, all fSENS KMD products can be supplied with a wireless interface compatible with the wireless control panels and transceivers.
