Building on more than 25 years of SLI experience, Hirschmann Mobile Machine Control Solutions has now set the next milestone with regard to SLI for telescopic cranes based on the Scalable Mobile Control System and thus accomplished the quantum leap to the next SLI generation.
New standards for the functional safety of machine applications require safety-related crane features, such as load moment indication, that comply with specific safety classes. On the one hand, these safety classes are achieved by the respective modules with highly-sophisticated software features and, on the other hand, they require a secure control platform in compliance with EN 13849 or IEC 61508, such as the Scalable Mobile Control System.
In order to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of crane manufacturers, significantly reduced calibration times are needed. Thanks to a new mathematical model used in the Scalable iVISOR SLI (LMB) solution, the time required for calibration has already been significantly reduced to a minimum at the time of initial operation of the crane prototypes. Generally, the operational test required for TÜV (Technical Supervisory Authority) approval and the test operation in overload already are sufficient to determine the necessary parameters for crane calibration. By this means the usual sensor test is sufficient for telescopic cranes in serial production.
The new Scalable iVISOR SLI is currently proving its worth in two practical tests with different requirements.
The first practical test is being conducted under aggravated conditions on a 60 ton telescopic crane in the North of the Central Federal District of Russia at -25°C. The second practical test is being conducted on a “truck-mounted” telescopic crane which is common in the U.S. and may be used with a luffable tip, drilling equipment and a working cage.
These two totally different crane solutions demonstrate the flexibility and modularity of the new Scalable iVISOR SLI load moment indicators. The system builds on the new SIL2 iFLEX S2 control and the innovative iSCOUT D3 console from the Scalable Mobile Control System. Thanks to its modularity and flexibility, the Scalable iVISOR SLI may also be used in other application solutions that require load moment indication.
With the new Scalable Mobile Control System and the new line of safety sensors, Hirschmann Automation and Control delivers efficient, future-proof control and load moment indication solutions that meet the current and future requirements of any mobile application.
