The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is a Major Command unit of the US Army which provides services in civil engineering. The global activities are allocated to the USA, Asia and Europe and the unit is structured in divisions and subordinate sectors.
USACE acts on state orders for national security and economical support in addition to its obligation to construct and maintain military facilities. This includes support and prevention of damage due to acts of God.
USACE requires the fast and effective stand-by duty of state-of-the-art construction machines especially after natural disasters. In 2008 alone, all of USACE’s know-how and ability was required after the floods in the Mid West of the USA as well as after the hurricanes Gustav and Ike. 13 million sandbags moved and more than 36,000 emergency roofs built are examples of the exceptional productive efficiency of the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
