A remarkable success despite the ash-cloud - bauma 2010 in retrospect
For seven days, from 19th to 25th April, interested visitors to bauma 2010 in Munich could vividly experience the latest from the construction machine industry. Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH was represented at the world’s biggest trade fair of this industry, and had positive results with their 60 qm stand.
On one point, all the exhibitors are in agreement: bauma 2010 shows a trend reversal for the international construction industry. The temporary flight-ban due to the ash-cloud could not cloud this spirit. Although 50 exhibitors and some visitors were unable to make it to bauma, due to the Icelandic volcano eruption, there were still over 415,000 visitors from more than 200 countries, and the 3,150 exhibitors from 53 countries were more than happy with the course of the exhibition.
Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH presented themselves under the slogan “Hirschmann | Solutions built on experience”, and had clear concepts for their products and the stand: a 6 meter high hovering rotunda with the brands HIRSCHMANN, PAT and KRÜGER provided perfect long-distance visibility and pulled visitors towards the stand.
A number of innovations concerning the following topics were presented:
- Scalable Mobile Control System (SMCS)
- New SLI Software Concept
- Performance level d/SIL 2
- Wireless Sensor Network
- System Integration
Hirschmann is convinced that these innovations, which form solutions with high customer usability, are only possible with the benefit of years of experience. This was the reason behind the chosen slogan.
Christoph Gusenleitner, the new Executive Vice President of Belden EMEA, who came to Munich especially to visit the show, was more than happy with the result. The Hirschmann VIP lounge, which offered intensive customer conversations in a relaxed atmosphere away from the bustle of the exhibition, was also well received.
Johannes Pfeffer, the General Manager of Electronic Control Systems, was visiting bauma for the first time, and confirmed: "Our presence at bauma is a benchmark, justifying our leading role. The quality of conversations with customers and the positive feedback confirm our feelings of being on the right path. We will also be represented at bauma China this year and then at the 2013 bauma, with a high innovation factor!“
