Swedish based Datek is claiming to be the first supplier of industrial radio remote controls to achieve environmental certification according to ISO 14001:2004. The minimum requirement of the standard is compliance with applicable environmental legislation and regulations, along with a commitment of continual improvements to exceed these. With radio remotes this largely refers to the use of certain materials and the recycling. The company also has a strong environmental leaning and: - Uses only renewable energy from wind and water power. - Heats its offices and production areas by geothermal power. - Designs all products for a long service life and ensures they are compatible backwards, both in terms of hardware and software. - Coordinates shipments and deliveries to reduce the effect on the environment. - By the end of this year 90 percent of its hazardous waste from production and products willl be routinely identified and recycled.
