Yorkshire-based Wilson Access Hire has taken delivery of the first CTE ZED26J truck mounted platform in the UK. Mounted on a 7.5 tonne Iveco Eurocargo chassis the 26 metre working height platform was purchased to meet the growing demand for self-drive equipment with mid-range access performance.
“Small and agile truck mounts offer great flexibility and the new CTE ZED26J fits in very nicely with our customer base which has shown a general increase in demand for self-drive units,” says Tom Wilson, managing director of Wilson Access Hire.
Wilson Access Hire operates a fleet of truck and track mounted platforms throughout the UK providing maximum working heights to 53 metres. Larger platforms are supplied with a specialist IPAF accredited operator but there is increasing market demand for equipment mounted on 7.5 tonne commercial vehicle chassis that can be driven and operated by the customer. Smaller access machines offered by the company include the CTE Traccess 170 track mounted platform.
“7.5 tonnes is as big as we will go on self-drive,” said Wilson. “This adds a new dimension to our fleet and will enhance our ability to work in partnership with other companies and provide a wider choice to our customers.”
The CTE ZED26J is a larger version of the ZED20 model that has proved popular with the 3.5 tonne self-drive market. Despite its compact overall dimensions, the ZED26 offers 26 metres maximum working height and 14 metres outreach with an unrestricted 230kg basket capacity. Its sigma boom can be configured to position the basket at almost any point within the working envelope. The inclusion of the fly-jib at the end of the main boom allows the basket to access working areas “up and over” obstructions such as buildings or railings positioned between the vehicle and the workface.
“The CTE is a very compact easy machine to use, much more so than some of the sophisticated German products, and I know my customers really like the working profile offered from the sigma boom,” said Wilson.
