Moffett becomes Cargotec Ireland

Moffett Engineering, the Dundalk, Ireland based manufacturer of Hiab Moffett truck-mounted (Piggy-Back) forklifts has changed its name to Cargotec Ireland.

Moffett Engineering was founded in 1949 developing products for the local agricultural market. In the mid 1980's the company came up with the revolutionary idea of the truck-mounted forklift, a three wheel drive machine that could be carried on the back of a truck or trailer without the loss of load space.

The company was acquired by Hiab/Cargotec in 2000, with the products rebranded as Hiab Moffett. The corporate name change is part of Cargotec's branding strategy for all of its businesses, which includes Hiab, Kalmar and MacGregor.

The current Hiab Moffett model range is includes specialist machines, both mast and telescopic, for the building, agriculture, animal feed, recycling and a wide range of other commercial and industrial uses, with lift capacities from 1.5 to 3.5 tonnes.

Staff at the Dundalk facility celebrated the unveiling of the new Cargotec signage on Friday, with an employee function.
